AHTS Skandi Saigon

The original

The "Skandi Emerald" and her sister ships (Skandi Atlantic, Skandi Pacific and Skandi Saigon)  are typical examples for larger modern anchor handling and supply tugs.  Operated by DOF Group, they are used for a variety of tasks, such as anchor handling, towage, safety services, and to supply offshore operations. The vessels are therefore equipped with a variety of winches and emergency equipment, such as several winches, storage areas and a large open deck space for various kinds of operations.

The model

The model is designed in 1:200 scale. It can be built as a model for static display or as a working RC boat. It is set up to enable radio control functions (RC), with the twin shaft propulsion in kort nozzles, the twin becker rudder and the bow thrusters and stern thrusters fully functional. As the model is rather small, the model can only be used in  quiet water conditions. Additionally, the chimney, the radar and lights can be set up to work, additional function such as the main winch, the tow pins and the crane can be added by a skilled modeler, too. However, this model is not set up to be ready to run, it requires refinement and is only suitable for skilled model builders. The model can be equipped with a real wooden deck; if you are interested in a laser-cut part, contact me, please.
The total model consists of four sets of printed parts: Hull, Superstructure, Details 1 of 2, Details 2 of 2. The kit also includes the parts to build a static model including the shafts and props.
