The model

The Model is designed in 1:200 scale. It can be built as a model for static display or as a working RC boat. It is set up to enable radio control functions (RC), with the twin shaft propulsion, the rudders and the bow thruster fully functional. As the model is rather small, the model can only be used in very quiet water conditions. Additionally, the radar and lights can be set up to work, and the crane can be made to work by a skilled modeler, too. However, this model is not set up to be ready to run, it requires refinement and is only suitable for skilled model builders.

Supplier NVG6 „Holstentor“

The Original

NVG 6 was built in 1966 as one of the first supply vessels to support the offshore activities in the North Sea, and it was run by DDG Hansa. Many of the following supply vessels were derived from this design. After 1967, the vessel was named „Holstentor“, and while it was sold later, it was operated until 2012, last as „Marive III.

Overiview on the history of the vessel

This vessel was built many times as a model boat in all different sizes, as the plans (originally by Christian Bucholz, today available through e.g. Sievers Modellbau) were published early and have served as a basis for many model ships.  It was also available as a kit at a larger scale (see e.g. here, page 82, in German).
