Coaster 840 „Nordstern“
The original
The coastal transport vessels of the type „Kümo 840“, also known as „Serie Nordstern“, were built by the German Democratic Republic in the years 1960 until 1963. In total, 25 units were built, which were mostly used for coastal transport tasks in the Baltic Sea and the Mediterranean. The ships were able to carry 840 tons and had two cranes with a lift capacity of 3 tons each.

The model
The Model is designed in 1:200 scale. It can be built as a model for static display or as a working RC boat. It is set up to enable radio control functions (RC), both for the shaft and the rudder. As the hull is rather slim, the model can only be used in very quiet water conditions. Additionally, the radar and lights can be set up to work, and additional functionality can be designed (both cranes are prepared to be made functional). However, this model is not set up to be ready to run, it requires refinement and is only suitable for skilled model builders.
